This is a permanent full-time position (38 hours per week) offering stable hours and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced restaurant and cafe environment.The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting menu development while ensuring excellent presentation and customer satisfaction. <h3>Benefits</h3>Salary &amp; Benefits<ul><li>Permanent full-time position (38 hours per week)</li><li>Salary range: $80,000 plus superannuation</li><li>Competitive salary package</li><li>Opportunities for career growth</li><li>Supportive and professional team environment</li><li>Employee meals and staff discounts</li><li>Consistent roster supporting work-life balance</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Prepare, cook and present a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.</li><li>Prepare and portion ingredients, including meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces and garnishes.</li><li>Assist with menu preparation and daily food production to ensure timely service during busy trading periods.</li><li>Monitor cooking times, temperatures and food quality to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.</li><li>Ensure all food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.</li><li>Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen, including workstations, equipment and utensils.</li><li>Assist with stock rotation, inventory control and the storage of food items using FIFO principles.</li><li>Report stock shortages, equipment faults and maintenance requirements to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.</li><li>Minimise food waste through efficient preparation, portion control and proper storage practices.</li><li>Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and efficient service.</li><li>Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.</li><li>Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries of food and kitchen supplies.</li><li>Contribute to maintaining the restaurant's high standards of food quality, presentation and customer satisfaction.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, and Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent qualification).</li><li>Minimum one (1) year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.</li><li>Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.</li><li>Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and safe food handling practices.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high standards of food presentation and quality.</li><li>Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment while demonstrating initiative and reliability.</li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Professional, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic.</li></ul>
