The role involves vehicle inspections, loading and securing freight, route planning, completing transport documentation, and maintaining compliance with heavy vehicle and workplace safety requirements.The position is suited to a professional driver who can work independently, manage delivery schedules, and maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and customer service. <h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive salary package</li><li>Full-time permanent employment</li><li>Stable long-term career opportunity</li><li>Opportunity to work in the mining and transport sectors</li><li>Local, regional, and long-distance transport opportunities</li><li>Supportive and safety-focused workplace</li><li>Well-maintained heavy vehicle fleet</li><li>Ongoing training and professional development</li><li>Career progression opportunities</li><li>Professional and respectful team environment</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Operate heavy vehicles to transport mining equipment, mining materials, and general freight safely and efficiently.</li><li>Transport loads to mine sites, industrial projects, customer locations, and other designated destinations.</li><li>Conduct comprehensive pre-start, daily, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle roadworthiness.</li><li>Check vehicle components including tyres, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and safety equipment.</li><li>Load, unload, position, and secure freight using appropriate equipment and approved load restraint methods.</li><li>Ensure mining equipment and other specialised freight is secured in accordance with load restraint requirements.</li><li>Follow approved routes and delivery schedules to ensure safe and timely deliveries.</li><li>Plan routes considering road conditions, vehicle restrictions, site requirements, and delivery timeframes.</li><li>Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical faults, defects, breakdowns, accidents, or maintenance requirements promptly.</li><li>Comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management requirements, and company procedures.</li><li>Follow mine-site, project-site, workplace health and safety, and environmental requirements.</li><li>Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, customers, mine-site personnel, and other stakeholders.</li><li>Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle.</li><li>Ensure freight is delivered safely and without damage.</li><li>Report delays, incidents, damaged goods, or delivery discrepancies to management.</li><li>Assist with loading and unloading activities where required and safe to do so.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Valid Australian HR, HC, or MC Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence, appropriate to the vehicle operated.</li><li>Minimum 1-3 years of relevant full-time experience as a Truck Driver or Heavy Vehicle Driver.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in freight, transport, haulage, mining, or logistics operations.</li><li>Experience transporting general freight, heavy equipment, mining materials, or similar loads.</li><li>Sound understanding of safe driving practices, load restraint, fatigue management, and heavy vehicle compliance.</li><li>Knowledge of Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility requirements.</li><li>Ability to complete logbooks, delivery documentation, and electronic work diaries accurately.</li><li>Good communication, time management, and organisational skills.</li><li>Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a transport team.</li><li>Ability and willingness to work a minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required by operational needs.</li></ul>
