The role requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a construction team.&nbsp;The successful candidate will work across various residential and&nbsp;commercial construction sites.This position requires strong technical bricklaying skills,&nbsp;attention to detail and&nbsp;a commitment to completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard. <h3>Benefits</h3><ul><li>Competitive pay and overtime opportunities</li><li>Stable demand across construction projects</li><li>Opportunities to develop valuable trade skills</li><li>Visible satisfaction from creating lasting structures</li><li>Potential to become a supervisor&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work independently or within a team</li></ul> <h3>Task & responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Studying&nbsp;architectural plans,&nbsp;drawings and specifications&nbsp;to determine required materials, dimensions and installation procedures.</li><li>Setting&nbsp;out&nbsp;brickwork&nbsp;and&nbsp;block work&nbsp;in&nbsp;accordance&nbsp;with&nbsp;construction&nbsp;plans&nbsp;and&nbsp;specifications.</li><li>Calculating&nbsp;the&nbsp;quantities&nbsp;of&nbsp;bricks,&nbsp;blocks, mortar&nbsp;and&nbsp;other materials required&nbsp;for&nbsp;each&nbsp;project.</li><li>Preparing&nbsp;mortar&nbsp;and&nbsp;spreading mortar&nbsp;layers&nbsp;to&nbsp;providea&nbsp;base&nbsp;and&nbsp;binder&nbsp;for&nbsp;bricks&nbsp;and&nbsp;blocks.</li><li>Laying&nbsp;bricks,concrete blocks,&nbsp;pre-cut stone&nbsp;and&nbsp;other building materials in rows,&nbsp;patterns, designs and specified shapes.</li><li>Ensuring brickwork and&nbsp;blockwork is&nbsp;level,&nbsp;plumb,&nbsp;aligned and&nbsp;completed to the required dimensions.</li><li>Cutting, shaping and fitting bricks and&nbsp;blocks using hand tools,&nbsp;power tools and brick-cutting machinery.</li><li>Installing steel&nbsp;lintels,wall&nbsp;ties,&nbsp;flashings,&nbsp;reinforcement&nbsp;bars&nbsp;and&nbsp;other structural components as required.</li><li>Pointing,&nbsp;finishing and&nbsp;cleaning&nbsp;mortar&nbsp;joints&nbsp;to&nbsp;achieve the&nbsp;required&nbsp;appearance&nbsp;and&nbsp;durability.</li><li>Constructing&nbsp;and&nbsp;repairing&nbsp;walls,&nbsp;partitions,&nbsp;arches and&nbsp;other&nbsp;brick&nbsp;or&nbsp;block&nbsp;structures.</li><li>Repairing&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;existing&nbsp;brickwork,&nbsp;blockwork&nbsp;and&nbsp;related&nbsp;masonry&nbsp;structures.</li><li>Erecting and dismantling restricted-height scaffolding and basic work platforms where authorised and&nbsp;required.</li><li>Preparing&nbsp;daily material,&nbsp;equipment&nbsp;and&nbsp;tool&nbsp;requirements&nbsp;for&nbsp;upcoming&nbsp;work.</li><li>Maintaining&nbsp;tools,equipment and&nbsp;work&nbsp;areas&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;safe,&nbsp;cleanand&nbsp;serviceable&nbsp;condition.</li><li>Following&nbsp;applicable Australian&nbsp;Standards,&nbsp;the National&nbsp;Construction Code,&nbsp;project specifications and workplace procedures.</li><li>Complying with&nbsp;Work Health&nbsp;and&nbsp;Safety requirements and&nbsp;correctly using personal protective equipment.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinating with&nbsp;supervisors,&nbsp;other&nbsp;tradespeople,&nbsp;subcontractors and&nbsp;project&nbsp;personnel&nbsp;to&nbsp;meet construction schedules&nbsp;and&nbsp;quality requirements.</li></ul> <h3>Qualification & experience</h3><ul><li>Certificate Ill&nbsp;in&nbsp;Bricklaying&nbsp;and&nbsp;Blocklaying,&nbsp;or&nbsp;an equivalent&nbsp;relevant trade&nbsp;qualification</li><li>At least one year&nbsp;of relevant full-time&nbsp;bricklaying experience.</li><li>A&nbsp;current&nbsp;Australian&nbsp;driver licence&nbsp;or&nbsp;an&nbsp;overseas&nbsp;licence that&nbsp;can&nbsp;lawfully be&nbsp;used&nbsp;in&nbsp;NSW.</li><li>Reliable&nbsp;transport&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;abilityto&nbsp;travel&nbsp;between construction&nbsp;sites.</li><li>A&nbsp;valid&nbsp;Construction&nbsp;White&nbsp;Card.</li><li>Current&nbsp;asbestos&nbsp;awareness training&nbsp;where&nbsp;required for&nbsp;the&nbsp;relevant&nbsp;projects&nbsp;or&nbsp;sites.</li><li>Their&nbsp;own&nbsp;standard&nbsp;bricklaying&nbsp;hand&nbsp;tools.</li><li>The&nbsp;physical&nbsp;fitness and&nbsp;capacity&nbsp;to&nbsp;safely&nbsp;perform manual&nbsp;construction&nbsp;work.</li><li>The&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to&nbsp;interpret construction&nbsp;plans,&nbsp;drawings and&nbsp;specifications.</li><li>A&nbsp;strong&nbsp;understanding&nbsp;of&nbsp;bricklaying&nbsp;methods, mortar&nbsp;preparation,&nbsp;construction&nbsp;tolerances&nbsp;and quality standards.</li><li>The&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to&nbsp;work&nbsp;independently&nbsp;with&nbsp;limited&nbsp;supervision&nbsp;and&nbsp;collaboratively as&nbsp;part&nbsp;of&nbsp;a construction team.</li><li>Good&nbsp;communication, time-management&nbsp;and&nbsp;problem-solving&nbsp;skills.</li><li>A&nbsp;strong&nbsp;commitment&nbsp;to&nbsp;workplace&nbsp;safety, quality&nbsp;and&nbsp;project deadlines.</li></ul>
